After the highly publicized closure of the Serenata Beach Club, many in the Ponte Vedra community wondered what would become of the beloved oceanfront destination that had long served as a gathering place for families, friends and beachgoers. Local restaurateurs and entrepreneurs Lynda Culhane-Merritt and Kevin Merritt saw not a loss, but an opportunity — one that would restore the property’s legacy while introducing a refreshed vision for the future.
Together with a team of experienced business leaders, the Merritts transformed the property into the South Ponte Vedra Ocean Club, breathing new life into the iconic beachfront club through extensive renovations, upgraded amenities and a renewed sense of community. Among the first major additions to debut was Lynda’s at the Ocean Club, an elegant oceanfront restaurant now open to the public — a notable shift from the formerly members-only experience. The restaurant seats up to 300 guests and combines refined coastal dining with sweeping Atlantic views, creating an atmosphere that feels both upscale and welcoming.
Inside, the redesigned space embraces modern coastal sophistication while honoring the relaxed charm that made the property a local favorite for years. The menu centers around fresh seafood, premium cuts of steak and chef-driven dishes crafted with seasonal ingredients. Diners can enjoy everything from seared salmon and scallop risotto to prime rib specials, handcrafted cocktails and indulgent desserts, all while listening to the sound of waves rolling just beyond the dining room windows. The larger South Ponte Vedra Ocean Club remains a private club featuring beach access, pools, fitness services and social events, but opening the restaurant to the public has allowed a broader audience to experience the revitalized property firsthand.
For longtime locals, the transformation represents more than a renovation — it’s the revival of a cherished coastal landmark. For newcomers, it offers a fresh opportunity to experience one of Ponte Vedra’s most scenic oceanfront destinations with a new sense of energy, elegance and hospitality.
